Working with Wessex Rivers Trust
I feel very lucky to be able to volunteer for some worthy causes and so it is very exciting that I am doing some social media content creation work for the Wessex Rivers Trust.
I have been learning a lot about local rivers, their wildlife and conservation and restoration works. It is rich in terms of content and stimulation and I love being creative.

One of my first content creation campaigns has been about the Salmon Life Cycle. The Wild Atlantic Salmon has an incredible journey. Firstly born in our local Wessex Rivers like the River Itchen, they develop and grow from freshwater fish into sea faring fish. Years long process and then salmon head out to sea to feed coming back again to spawn back in their own rivers. I have been researching each stage of the cycle and learning so much about how they find their way home to spawn.
Research and Questions
At the start of the campaign, I ask a lot of questions and then in this case did a lot of work looking at images of salmon at each life cycle stage.
Creation Choices
I choose to draw each stage to add a whimsical yet attractive element to the social media post. I sketched various times until I was happy with what I had drawn.
Animation
Working with Canva, I added all the elements and then animated with a bespoke feature so that the salmon looked as though it was "growing up" at each point in the reel.

I'm excited to learn more and create more visually interesting and informative social media posts that delight and educate the public.
